Well, it doesn't sound like the end is imminent and you may need the break to cope with the caring to come. Could you go on your own? You aren't joined at the hip and you don't both have to go.

At the end of the day it is your wife's call.

When someone is dying with cancer the signs of an imminent end are very clear so with my MIL, Mrs Gti texted me and I left work to drive home. Called GtiJ at home and told him to get up to the nursing home; he walked in to the room and she stopped breathing about a minute later. I stopped at home to do a couple of quick things then had a sudden urgent feeling I ought to the at the care home, so jumped in the car, shot up there and arrived about 3 minutes too late. I'll never forget that sudden feeling of urgency, it came from nowhere.

Opinions on staying or going seem to be divided 50/50 on here. We were glad her family were with her; it's almost as if she held on until they were all present.
