Just done a few errands in the village and thought I would hop on the bike rather than faff about trying to park even though it looked as though it might rain. I realised if I was going to do it, it would have to be NOW while it looked reasonably safe weather wise.
I decided to do something I haven't done for a long time and just go in what I was already wearing so, other than an old trouser clip on the right leg, I set of in the shoes and blue corduroy trousers I was stood in and just grabbed a coat. I must say, it was very relaxing. I didn't go above 12mph, I used the odd cycle lane, it rained a bit but nothing serious and I didn't sweat at all. I got home just under 3 miles later feeling very Dutch. If everyone could ride like that and the cars behaved then cycling would be even more popular in this country. The facilities are already largely there IMO, it just needs a change in the mindset of the British population.
I have to admit, it was nice not to be riding flat out for once..... it's a slippery slope?
