I have no TV at home, this has been a few years now which I decided to ditch this technology, along with it, SKY with sports, loads of random channels and funny, money making religious channels and babestation. The reason to detox then was just that, to be more productive, socialise more, save money and end to mind numbing viewing. Contradictory to this, the laptop/home broadband meant I watched even more useless viewing, youtube, heated politics, porn, social media (only joined face book few months ago, has benefits I see)..
More recently, I feel I want to ditch the home broadband. This thought has been circulating in me a while. Recently my laptop damaged, it went for repairs for a few days, this period gave my thoughts into action and it felt liberating...
Now I have a smart phone, though moderate monthly GB for this. Not having my broadband was joyful, peaceful, mindful. I had to get used to the quiet at home. It allowed me to test my feelings I have been having and I found it to be a relief. Maybe it was only a few days without but I read more, more productive at home and aimed to be with or around people.
I wish to get rid of my home broadband and stick with my allowance on my phone, see how this goes.
I think I have some addiction to the laptop/broadband and when I see my laptop, I urge to press the power button to on, if the laptop was ever really off or just hibernating...
Its different to being on holiday, being at home feels like I fall into home/work mentality. I wish to learn, be more productive, be more social in my single, home alone life and feel I be mindful and self-reassured that I am in more control...
Anyone else ditched the fibre...?

Should you not have written us all a letter telling us this?

No smart phone or Facebook here. I have a telly, but also have self control - it goes on when there is something I or Mrs D want to watch, off when that is finished. It didn't to in at all yesterday because there was bugger all on.

I control it, it does not control me.

I am, however, an inveterate Radio 4 junkie, and from the moment I awake I order Alexa to give me my dose of chat, current affairs, drama, comedy, and informative programming.

I haven't had my tv on since the TdF finished 12 days ago,and that's the only program i've watched in the last month or so. I had years of Mrs Accy watching total crap like Big Brother,Hollyoaks and that horrible filthy mouthed Keith Lemon. To not hear such crap in the background is like being liberated. On the subject of talking face to face to someone instead of on the internet and smart phones,i try and have at least a 15 minute conversation with someone everyday. Even if it's a disagreement, i find that conversing helps keep depressing thoughts at bay. Isolation is bad for humans.

I have a telly and would never want to get rid of it, but I have never seen SKY, loads of random channels, funny, money making religious channels or babestation. Like anything else, it's not what it is, it's what you choose to do with it that matters.

I can't stand that Keith Lemon either. Last time an odd dressing long blond haired celebrity hit our screens it all ended very badly.

I've ditched Chris Evans this week. Fed up of the inane rattling over everyone and everything. I think the obsession with whether rope can be flushed down a toilet was then last straw.
Simon Mayo is on holiday too and his replacement had such thrilling articles as 'how to get the stone out of an avocado' or something.
I'm now blissfully ignoring it all in the company of Classic FM.
