You get to buy a trailer before the Islabike. Have a look at Croozer and Chariot...

Brilliant news! Booking NCT classes was the best parenting related decision we made, apart from the decision we made to have sex at least twice a day when trying to conceive, or 'the glory days' as I remember them.

I take my (13 month old) daughter all over the place in the croozer. It's great fun, and (partially) solves the problem of not having any time for bike riding.

You'll be more tired, skint and joyful than you ever believed possible...

Trailer first, surely. You can strap a car seat into one, and take little 'un out before they are old enough to sit up in a seat...
