Hi everyone,

Essentially I am looking for suggestions and ideas which would be a good come back ride after a long lay off due to an injury I suffered on the bike end of January. I am aiming to be back on the bike and at a managable level of fitness by August/September and I am looking for a ride that I can focus on during the long months of recovery and physio.

Any suggestions ?

Any more information?

Day ride?
Sportif?
Tour?
Time trial?

Without more info,it is hard to suggest anything.
I would try for a ride with some emotional connection. Be it a hurdle,or loved one etc

I'm doing 100 miles with a friend for a charity as we both have people close to us that are affected by this condition. Makes it "easier" to focus on those long hard training rides

Nothing to rigorous really as I will only be back ron the bike from July so only would have 4 week or so to get the fitness up. A day ride or sportiff would be ideal. I am open minded to a tour but just a little unsure where my body will be come July August, however suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the responses

After that length of time off the bike you will have lost a lot of fitness, unfortunately. Four weeks isn't nearly enough to get back to where you were, in my experience it will take months, not weeks. On the other hand, endurance is another story entirely. I was able to manage a 90 mile FNRttC only six weeks after a 2 month layoff without any trouble. Why not look at doing an Audax or one of the longer charity rides in September? Or even a FNRttC if you're inclined to night riding, you'd be more than welcome...

Just a quick update, going to be riding the London to Southampton in August and also the Bath to Bournemouth in September both BHF rides. I also I going to do a tour in France for 5-7 days in August September not sure on route as yet but doing it by myself - anyone interested in a weeks tour ?
