No meatings b4 dinner!
Look in West London. Shepherds Bush, Acton, Ealing and outwards. The Central line is the best on the network, and the bike journey eastwards is great.

South London has pinched narrow streets, a complete lack of pubs, and very few trees. Also, the locals get pissed up on Friday nights and hassle cyclists.

{heads for door...}

I say Jeeves my very dear chap would you be so kind as to load both barrels of that sawn-off and pass it over. I am going to perform an act of kindness by putting the thing out of its misery!

Only good thing about Earlsfield is the fact that it's in the borough of Wandsworth. The roads are full of builders vans speeding around because of the various industrial estates there. Those Cappaugh trucks are a bloody menace!

Take this with a very large pinch of salt, as it comes from someone who's never lived further south than Northampton, but...

My son spent last year living in Tooting. As a parent I have to admit to being worried (tales of taxis not going 'south of the river', Carter USM's 'Only Living Boy in New Cross' etc etc) but he really liked the area. I visited a few times and found it enjoyably cosmopolitan. He could have rented a 3 bed semi in Notts for the price of a bedroom in a shared house, but you know that:smile:

Chelsea?

Well considering you've been living it up in the "gentrified" parts of Nottingham:thumbsup: , perhaps Richmond would prove attractive. Its a fantastic ride to Chelsea (totally flat, along the river and pushed by a tail wind all the way in). has an air of gentrification to it, some fantastic pubs, river, great heritage, a neat park, lots of wildlife (deer especially), is on the doorstep to the M25 and still on the tube.

That said,if it were me I'd look for a place further out where I got a lot more for my money and would look in a pleasant leafy village on the outskirts of the garden of England...say...Chislehurst perhaps, I hear its rather jolly there this time of year.

It's a bit more complicated than that...
If you'll be renting, plan on staying put for no more than six months. That will give you time to decide which bit of town you like best.

I have colleagues who moved four or five times to try out different bits of the city.
