Sounds like a great subscription gift.
I subscribed to Cycling Plus and got a free Cateye Strada slim wireless computer, I cancelled the subscription after the 6 month tie in period. I did the same sometime later and got a free Long sleeve Altura top.

I did similar with a subscription to a Dive Magazine. I got a free dive torch, where the cost of the torch in a shop was higher than the year subscription. Result.
