In a 'refreshing' move Reform run Durham Council has announced that the very dangerous road through Dipton will be increased from 30mph to 40mph.
Apparantly few drivers do 30 anyway so their reward is 40.
Aim for one hundred.

It is already a very disconcerting route for cyclists at 30mph.

I had the misfortune of having to drive on the North Circular recently, it is mainly 20mph, or the chunk I drove was. Not a pleasure, but certainly more pleasant than previously. All of the pushing and shoving for space was non existent and you could spot the t*at factor long before they did stupid things. A lot quicker as well as everything was moving at all times.

Wow!

My memory of daily driving on the North Circular (in the 1980s) was 30 seconds of 60 mph followed by ten minutes of 1 mph.

Yes, I was one of the tw*ts.

It was like that though wasn't it. Everyone fighting for their space to gain that earlier return home. Remember those that stared you out pulling into your path as you approached. Only the other day on a quieter road in Kent a young woman in a 'car' the size of a transit van came down the middle of the road with her hand held up palm out giving people no choice but to stop and let her through regardless of right of way. I did point out her stupidity and big car doesn't trump all others when she was forced to slow right down as a man ona bicycle dared to be undeterred and follow the rules of the road. Her music was too loud to hear exactly what she said but smiling, I carried on my way. Entitlement these days is increasingly common.
