Good news today?

I received a bracket for my new eDelux light from Spa Cycles. After over 8 weeks of faffing around this is the final item I need to get my touring bike back on the road. I am looking forward to a very long commute in the dark on Monday

This afternoon my first road bike arrived which was the highpoint of my day so far. 20 minutes later, just as i was finishing putting the stern and pedals and getting ready for my first ride the cycle computer arrived too. But the battery was almost dead so that was short lived.

I noticed the brakes could use a little tightening up and also both wheels have a slight deviation (I don't know the technical term, but the rims don't spin parallel with the brake pads). I intend to ride it tomorrow for 20-30 miles at least and then try and calibrate the brakes/gears and whatnot as I understand its the case with new bikes. Not really my area of expertise but I'll try not to do more harm

My good news is after two weeks slobbing it, I havnt gained anything weight wise after losing two stone, my first gym sesh this afternoon went well, but I wanna be in goal.

Sounds like they need truing. There will be lots of guides to doing this online, and you'll need a spoke key.

Although you say they don't spin parallel - do you mean all the time, or just that they rub at certain points? If it's certain points they need truing, if all the time, check the brake pads are set in straight!

I remember at my various graduations (three of them now, and I'm still a rubbish collector), there's always at least one student so fixed on waving to their family as they walk across the stage, that they nearly forget to shake hands with the Vice Chancellor....

I took voluntary redundancy 1st November after 18 long years. Today I got a new one after less than 3 weeks. Made me smile

I remember at my various graduations (three of them now, and I'm still a rubbish collector), there's always at least one student so fixed on waving to their family as they walk across the stage, that they nearly forget to shake hands with the Vice Chancellor....

I'm the slightly dishevelled one looking a the camera.

Despite a request to turn phones off, or put on silent, at the start of the event there was still a chap sitting in the row behind who was taking incoming calls!

I did also notice that even though it was announced that it was customary to acknowledge the dignitaries on the stage as one walked across to receive the handshake many of the graduands were so busy self gratifying that they ignored the dignitaries. There were quite a few 'off the shoulder' gowns too.

The graduands and guests were also a little sparse on the applause, at times it seemed there were only a dozen or so bothering, probably difficult to clap when one hand is holding phone to ear!
