Coming back from my cycle ride today via Deptford Church Street (runs between Creek Road & the A2), low and behold over the weekend they've only gone and renewed the southbound bus lane surface!! After months of playing dodgems with the potholes, there's now a lovely new surface, just hope they get around to doing the northbound lane as well.

Brilliant news, many thanks for this update, will post it on the Lewisham Cyclists website. This is probably due to the ongoing diligence of our Cycling Officer. Unfortunately they have not renewed her contract which is bloody disappointing.

On Friday I was walking past where the road sign painters were busy painting road signs, like they do, when I bumped into a friend coming the other way. So we sat down in a sun-trap bus shelter and watched them painting their road signs while passers-by stopped to warn us that the wouldn't be any buses. Then another friend walked by and joined us and yet more people stopped to tell us that the bus stop was out of use. Those road-sign painters are really pretty nifty with their painting - they have to be, it dries almost instantly (though, surprisingly, it dries quicker in the cold than in the warm.) We were impressed. And we actually did watch paint dry.

But then, once they had painted their bus stop signs, they went further down the road to paint BUS LANE and managed to make one of the straight lines in the A go bendy. I just know that every time I ride up that road for the next 6 months I'm going to find myself saying to myself: ''That A's a bit wonky.''
