I once had the unplreasant experience of sitting through Peter Maxwell-Davis 8th Symphony which appeared to require the orchestra tuning up for an hour, some schoolkids on pencil boxes, and shaking marbles in a tin can.

I went to a Herbie Hancock concert once, experimental jazz - similar set-up to yours sound-wise though. God it was awful pretentious twaddle. We had to wait until the encore for something with a tune.
