A wee problem I had with Google mail: after logging into my mail box - provided by Virgin Media - it automatically redirected me to my Google mail account.
I have one, opened on some upgrade years ago, but I don't use it.
The basteward hijackers never even gave me time to read my mail before switching the page!
I solved the problem by instructing Firefox not to automatically redirect from web pages.
The cheek, I say! :cursing:

We use Google mail for work now and I hate the Android Gmail app which doesn't allow you to turn off Conversation View. This is an extreemly annoying Google feature that arbitrarily groups together emails based on their subject and displays the sequence of emails in the wrong order. Google seem to think they know what's best for everyone Grrr...... :-(

I battled with this for years and finally gave in and combined the two . A week later I get an email from virgin saying they are no longer doing it that way with google and now I have to try and reverse it all

Well, the mail web page's layout are very similar between the two, it crossed my mind they were merging.
Still, I need to read mail addressed to Patricia on Virgin, not to Pat5mph on Google mail. Or, at least, give me a chance to read both, open the Google spam in a different window!

I've had a gmail.com account since it was first invented and was only available if you knew someone who already had one and they sent you an invitation. I used it alongside my own mail server as a back up.
I only use it to collect junk and spam now, or when I don't want to use my personal email.

Could it be that you are logging into your personal google account and when you go to virgin it just redirects you to google and by default your account as you are already logged into it, I am assuming Virgin still use google.

No, same kept happening after I logged out of Google - btw, I don't remember the password to log back in, even if I wanted to

Have you tried clearing you history & cookies, although you probably want to find out your password first

One work around could be to setup your google account to pick up the email from your virgin account then you wont need to go to the virgin at all.

No way!
I refuse to give in to terrorist tactics, it's working now anyway, probably until my next firefox update.
Google are a good search engine, but I don't want to be "Googleized".

I gave up on firefox a couple of years ago when Adobe Flash kept on crashing it and went to google chrome and never had a problem since.

I know some people dont like google but I like the way all my contacts and photos etc from my android phone get backed up to the internet so if my phone gets lost or stolen it doesnt matter as everything on it is backed up, and google aren't anywhere near as controlling as Apple.

But I dont use their email.

Same here. Although from before it was called Gmail. It started life as googlemail and I've been using it as my main email address ever since. It's a measure of a salesperson's IT literacy if they notice that I was in there early enough to get my actual name as my email address: no numbers, no weird characters just firstname.surname@gmail.com. Back then it was a pain having to keep winding the pixies up to make it work though.
