Cool. So if we get lucky, one will crash - on, just for example, Great Yarmouth - and everywhere in a stripe upstream across England (and possibly some of Wales) will get reeeeeeally great photos!

I was wondering about how often the maps are updated earlier today. I needed to check where an acquaintance lived in the next village.

There's a new development of 6 houses, completed 2019. Google still hasn't found it.

How do you do that? I can see how to get previous street views, but not the satellite ones (my street views were done in 2009, 2019 & 2024).

If you find the house on google maps, change to street view, there should be an additional pop up box in the top left of the screen. One of the options within that box is "more dates"

That's what I was doing, but it gives you different street views, I don't see any option for different satellite views

Someone must have noticed and complained, they've just redone it, and it's now back to normal.

It turns out they haven't redone everything, maps for a few miles down the road still have a low sun casting long shadows, (comparisons of the closest zoom available on the right):
