Two way, can you, without buying their app sync stuff. I know you can view your Google Calendar in Outlook. You used to be able too but they've now dropped support for the old sync software?

Not as I recall, I did it a while ago as a cal file export from one then import into the other, but its a poor compromise and not a live link.

I threw in my lot with skydrive (aka onedrive) as the calendar seems more simple user friendly than either google or outlook.

try the techno forum, there's some smart geeks over there

I used to use Thunderbird to get around it but I found that eM client is even better. It seamlessly syncs all Google stuff (Calendar, Mail, Contacts and Tasks). The other one you could look at is Mailbird but I prefer eM

I've used Thunderbird but I found that you still need 3rd party plugins which stop working when a new release comes out until they get updated, it's mail handling and rules are not as good either.

I don't know eM, might take a looksie at that.

I'd never heard ot it either but eventually I got fed up of some of the idiosyncrasies of Thunderbird and went digging.

Just looking at it but before i download for a try, how does it manage junk mail?
My GMail account handles my junk mail so eM just sticks anything that Gmail considers junk into a Junk folder. In fact I'm so used to Gmail just handling it and every now and again going in a clearing it online that I've only just checked the junk folder in eM and it's got all the stuff I'd expect to be in there.

Ah I see. My POP3 provider does filter and add a junk prefix too, I guess this is how Outlook knows it's junk. eM seems to do similar, just found a review about it. Might try it then.
