Can anybody help. I've got...

Google
Windows XP Home
IE 6

The Google search autosuggestion/autocomplete feature is starting to do my head in. Does anybody know how to drive a very sharp stake through its annoying little ticker?

Please....I fear for my sanity....

Thanks.

I run vista but should be basicaly the same. Top righthand corner of the google page is a small cog symbol. Click on that then the drop down menu should have a 'search settings' option. Click on that then scroll down to the google instant on/off option and select 'off' then save settings at the bottom of screen.

This should sort it but if your computer is anything like mine it will switch itself back on a few times a month

Thanks IlS. I tried that but the little bastard is still very much alive and twitching. I restarted the PC too. I'll try deleting Cookies next.

for a while I had this link in my bookmarks toolbar (firefox)

www.google.com/webhp?complete=0&hl=en

seemed to work - searches without autocomplete - but I use bing now
