Google street camera

Does anyone know if these things crawl around when taking pictures or do they shift like normal cars ?

Only ask because one passed me yesterday and was wondering what the chances were of me being in the photo . The one that i saw was going at a normal pace for a car so thought maybe it had done it's pass and was heading back home.

I think they travel at normal speed - after all the shots I've seen are in traffic - so remember where you were to go looking in a few months time.

Normal speed. I'm not sure they'd be allowed to drive around at 5 mph. Google won't give out details on the cameras, but I bet they cost a few bob and can take photos at a sensible speed.

I thought they took constant video, and it's frame-grabs from that which are used to create the Streetview stills ?

I seen a street car come down my street, I guess sometime they'll have little villages in the country and then will move onto just country roads.

It was country road where they passed me or i assume it was google . Is there anything else around that could mistaken for a google camera i wonder.

There's a black astra doing the rounds in brighton & hove at the moment, has the google logo on it & a soddin great camera on the roof that is folded flat & covered at night.

I saw one in Malton in Yorkshire. You cannot mistake them as the camera mount is huge.

Talking of streetview, they had an update the other day. Unfortunately it didn't include the UK but great deal of switzerland, which for cycling people I guess is fairly cool .
