OS used through APIs and on other sites like multimap is absolutely fine in my opinion.
Multimap is just about bearable, but not a patch on googlemaps. Even the basics like scrolling the map are painful on multimap and a doddle on google.

Multimap was appalling in the past, it's just better than it was now. It was the OS in it that kept me using it.

It'll all be academic in 24 hours anyway...

I use a combination of walking and car routes - but it still does some funny loops because it doesn't know of paths/tracks under motorways etc. So it would be great to have one that took into account hills when planning although whether a hill is a good or bad can be a very individual.

Yeah, I do too. I found the advantage of the Walking one for the route I wanted was it didn't take me down motorways and avoided some of the busier A roads.

From Norwich to London it was mainly country lanes actually so was pretty good.

Just tried a walking route from, London to Hull, its not bad actually if you do not like walking and prefer swimming.

You swim from Margate to Ostend, walk up the coast a bit, then swim up the North Sea and up the Humber and your there.

In fact looking at the detailed instructions it includes two ferry trips, so Google must have found the shortest possible route you would have to walk.
