Thank you all for your advice.

To update;

The police requested and update of my injuries, I also have a crime number.

The kind policeman who talked to me in the ambulance is calling me on Saturday when he is next on shift. I guess he will want more information and to let me know what’s happening. I will ask for the drivers registration number and insurance details.

I have an appointment at York Trauma & Orthopaedic unit on 17/9.

After my arm was hit by the wing mirror, I fell into the car as it sped by. Initially, apart from my arm, I had no pain but now the right side of my torso is bruised and pretty painful. My neck and shoulder pain is easing so I’m pleased about that.

Heineken, my employer, have been really good, telling me to take as long as I need.

2 ibuprofen & 2 paracetamol taken together seem to work really well, they take the edge of the pain so I’ve been out walking and feel a lot less sorry for myself!

We are on a short family break in The Lake District later in the month, I doubt I’ll be able to drive but I’m really looking forward to the trip.

Just a quick note
clearly you don;t want to be taking too many of each
and when I needed them for a long time I found that the best way to combine them was to take a normal dose but alternate them
I think they have a time period of 2 tablets every 4 hours
so you can take 4 or one - then 2 hours later 2 of the other - and flip-flop all day

until you get to the max dose

I ended up extending the time by an hour to make it last longer

but apparently if you take them at the normal dose for a while the effect increases

But take them for too long and they can generate a sort fo phantom pain themselves

but check with someone who knows - don;t trust me!!

I'd go 2 ibuprofen, then 2 hours, 2 paracetamol, then 2 hours later and alternate it - you'll start to feel sore as the two hours come up, rather than having a 'wait'. Watch the maximum dose. Assuming you have no broken bones, if you do, avoid ibuprofen as it slows bone healing (I am well versed on breaking myself - or getting broken).

This is how I thought you took the combination of both but the Ambulance medics gave me all four tablets together. Maybe this dose was due to the situation I was in at the time?
I will revert back to as you and @ebikeerwidnes mentions above.

Ouch! I'm glad to hear that you're mostly in one piece and on the mend.

Whenever people say they 'didn't see you' in these situations, I usually take that to mean that they weren't looking.

As well as all the legal and medication advice, do make sure that if you're in any doubt about how your injured arm is healing that you question whoever is dealing with it and ask for a second opinion if you have to.

I say this because a friend broke his upper arm playing football a couple of years ago and has some issues with how it was set and supported at the time, but was fobbed off. Long story short, it healed quickly but was obviously out of alignment, so he's had to have it surgically re-broken and set properly.

Sorry - just an extra - teh above assumes you know to avoid certain thinsg - like Ibuprofen - if you are on certain tablets

I was taking some anti-blood clotting tablets for a while
and hurt my knee and had a slight cut due to an "incident" on my bike
the VERY VERY slight cut bled for hours - had to hold my arm right up well above my head for several hours before it would stop
it was very small but bled through loads of plasters and a few cloths before ti stopped
apparently Ibuprofen slows down blood clotting - so you mustn;t take it while taking anti blood clot tablets

other wise you are a clot!

(sorry)
