can't get my trousers past my huge thighs!!
got nocked of the bike today on a roundabout.......pretty scary stuff.....and the bike got a rough time of it too!!

cycling round a 2 lane roundabout on the outside lane (braidcraft/pete road Pollock) .....I had to pass 2 turn offs to get to mine......and as I approach the last one before mine the cars all stop as usual on the lines! so I carry on peddling at the same fairly quick pace while keeping a usual eye on my surroundings..... as I come abreast of the cars stopping the car in the lane nearest suddenly darts out as im right in front of it!!! tried to get a little power down to zip past but too close to the car.....and it smashed the rear end of the bike and I went tumbling over

I popped up straight away to the words:
''sorry didn't see you, it's my fault'' '' yeah no farking sh*t'' I replied.
''are you okay?'' ''just got hit by a farking car what do you think??'' not a diplomatic person im starting to find out

I gazed down to see my rear wheel completely snapped in 2......likely new cassette and possibly rear derailiier...not sure yet not seen the bike since I got taken to hospital! phoned the police etc. and waited for them to arrive at the scene. the guy was sitting in the middle of a roundabout so he suggested we move around a little to let the traffick go and sit in his car while we waited........he got my bike for me (which I had thrown quite a distance over the fence next to the roundabout whithout realising) and sat in his car.

he was a little shaken too.....and we talked a little to keep busy and calm down a little......which was fair as these things happen and the police etc. where on their way so cool.........until of course the guy offered me money to let him get off.....he said

''if I give you say £200 quid you could phone them and say we sorted it out and ur okay''

''em I can't feel my arm and really need to go to hospital, besides i'll get in bother for phoning police etc. for nothing.....they have my details already...''

so wasn't to impressed....thankfully the police came then and I got taken to the ambulance for examination. im absolutely fine with nothing other than a skint elbow though got sent to hospital on paramedics advice (feel a bit guilty for goin to hospital for a little cut) but they wern;t sure if i'd chipped a bone n stuff because of the adrenalin so went and got the okay nothing other than a cut!

so another side on smash, another wrecked bike(happened before and bike still in pieces in my work) and another driver who can't see HI-VIS jackets and flashing LEDS happy days!!

Ouch sounds like you had a right time of it, but glad to hear you came out the other side in one piece. Don't feel guilty about going to hospital, its better safe than sorry, you could have had something internal without knowing it, so best to be on the safe side.

I stopped wearing a hi-viz top when I realised people were seeing it and naturally, they drive where they are looking!

Glad your OK.

I hope you are feeling better now, it takes a while for the adrenaline to go and then everything starts to hurt!
When I was younger, I got hit three times in a year on roundabouts. The last one sounds similar to yours I could see what was happening but had no way of stopping it, so I went as fast as I could and hoped he would see me in front of him in time. He didn't. I gave up riding for nearly 15 years after that!

hope your ok. if he offered you 200 quid then there's a good chance he's already got a few points on his licence

I was very nearly taken off again today. Similar can't wait to pass, go to overtake but no room so they pull in on you. I was very shouty, but didn't swear. Didn't fancy a wing mirror in my already broken ribs.

+1 : Medics would much rather you attend and it turn out to be nothing than you don't and it turns out to be something!

@carrera25 GWS. The bike can be replaced (at the driver's expense) your body parts cannot!

BTW, would be a good idea to write everything down, as much detail as you can, in case he starts wriggling and denying later.

Edit to add: Make sure you chase this up with the police as well. I'd be pushing for a DWDCA prosecution.

Crikey @carrera25 ! That sounds horrendous. Best to get checked over by the professionals, just in case. Glad the car driver admitted fault so let us hope that he pays to get your bike fixed for you. Get well soon.

Glad your ok, I've Had quite a few near misses on roundabouts, some drivers just seem clueless.

I always make sure I give drivers the eyeballs on roundabouts. Even then, there will be the odd driver who looks straight through you and pulls out regardless.

£200! How much bike does the numpty think he can buy for £200? Not to mention damage to your clothing and all. This is assuming no injuries of course, which could amount to a lot more.
Screw his insurance company for every penny you can.
