I hope all goes well for you & you are soon back on 2 wheels. Only advice that springs to mind is to see if your local law centre would help. We have a couple of charities here that will advise & may even represent in civil cases

Well he was certainly asked lots of questions by the officers with my accident, presumably as to what happened...apparently he was kept a while as was breathalysed....
In most police forces, it is standard practice to breathalyse drivers after a collision.

Yes rightly so...I think @jefmcg said he got a bit grumpy because he had to wait for someone else to turn up with the kit?
Yup. That's when I lost sympathy for him. Vicks was on her way to hospital in an ambulance and in pain, I was guarding her bicycle until someone came to collect it and he was getting peevish about having to stand around, even though it was his fault.

To the OP -
Make sure you make note of any damage to any clothing/equipment besides the bike.
If you are unable to ride to work as a direct consequence of the accident then get receipts for any additional expenses incurred (bus/taxi fare, parking payments etc).
If you're bruised or scraped get photos of any injuries.

These should all be included in your claim against the drivers insurance.
