Just had a word with work and it looks like they're going to let me securely store my bike on site on a permanent basis and I've also managed to negotiate a slightly later start to the working day...;)

So, I'm going to be able to get out and ride for 1 - 1.5 hrs or so before work. I've got a quiet country lane route of about 20km planned and reckon I'll motivate myself to do this about 3 times a week, prob more as the weather improves. (I'm a weekend commuter by the way, so I'll only be riding a maximum of 5 days per week.)

As an incentive for the days when the weather is a bit less appealing I've decided on the following scheme...

No more money to be spent on my bike or on roadie kit unless;

I ride more than 250km in a calender month in which case I get to spend £50 on some bike bling. This can be carried over to the next month if I want to "save" for something. However if I carry it over and then don't complete my 250km in the following month then it's all gone! If I lose more than 4kg in a calender month I get to spend £50 on bike clothing - again this can carry over as above.

If anyone wants to add some more "rules" feel free to suggest them!

I'm actually really looking forward to starting this, registered for cyclog etc! I intend to have a test run next week just to check timings etc and then I'm going to start properly from April but I've a weeks ski-ing to fit in over easter so it's looking difficult already...

You need to include an injury clause, stating that if you are injured or ill for more than 25% (or an other percentage of your choice) of a month you do not loose your bonus. This way if it is impossible for you to ride you will not loose your £50 and any money that you have carried forward from previous months.
