Got me another 'bent.

At the moment my only 'bent is (was) the Catrike 700 trike. I've owned a couple of 2 wheelers, a Bacchetta Strada with the 'superman' bars, and an Optima Baron with the hamster bars. After 'converting' to trikes with under-seat steering I wanted to try the same with a 2 wheeler, but just couldn't justify shelling out a large wad to do it. Then I saw this come up on ebay. It'd been on previously with a higher reserve, but when it reappeared with a 700 quid reserve, I had to have a punt, despite the colour! I'd much prefer red (all my riding gear is red) but I suppose it's a good match for my Ortleib panniers.

The bike is immaculate, with loads of extras (computer mount and wireless cateye computer/front and rear mudguards/hub dynamo and light/carrier/Hs33 hydraulic brakes?/and sprung front fork.) The original receipt said £2,182, so to get a minter for less than a 3rd of the retail price is a bit of a bargain in my book. I know it's not the fastest or lightest 'bent available, but after having a quick spin, I'm sure it must be one of the comfiest. Since the pics, I've given her a bit of a service, dropped the bars forward, and lowered the seat to its lowest setting so it's the same angle as the Catrike. Now all I have to do is give the garage a good clear-out so I can get my mountain bike/road bike/trike/motorbike and the new addition in!

Hi
Here are a few pictures of your very bike straight from the box from Holland in October 2005 . The build date is stamped under the frame around the seat area . This can act as a security frame number because the guys at Rainbow only made small batch numbers , a few a day .. It's great to see it in such good condition .. I was the owner of the business that sold this wonderful machine , long gone now .. I still own and ride 5 Rainbows from the old business .. Your Lyner was built to the clients own specification , the replacement value of the same machine will be closer to 3k today ..

In that case my smug factor has risen by 100%. Been out on a 10 mile run today on it. It's twice as comfortable as the Catrike, but I'll not be riding it much 'till the warmer weather as the Catrike has the fairing, and there's zero chance of falling off it! I guess I'll split the commute mileage 50/50, so this Lyner will be piling on 2,500 miles a year......probaly far more than it's done in the last 8 years put together.

It's always nice to get some history feedback on a purchase, so thanks for that. Small world eh?

Hi Again.
Thanks , it's great to see it again , if you are ever around the Wirral area we could go for a car free promenade jolly around New Brigton on the other Rainbows I still have ! I particularly enjoy the red Longo ...
The guys at Rainbow in Holland have a loyal customer base who cherish there machines . It's rare to see them for sale secondhand even there , I know they have expanded and moved to a bigger factory employing 10 , they also make the Nazca recumbent cycle range and finish (paint) other recumbents cycles for other manufactures !

Same offer to you Neil......I bet you'd rather take your old Catrike though? She's still going strong btw, I've done over 4,000 miles this year on her.

Thanks Carl if I am down you way certainly take up your offer, now where are them vids on youtube you have been promising!

I always used to use Windows Movie Maker to edit vids, but it's packed up. I have so many bits and bobs to edit down but ain't got round to it as the other software is complicate beyond belief!
