I am so chuffed. Today I picked up my Giant Defy 2 from the lovely people at Square Wheels, Strathpeffer. I then cycled from the shop to Beauly, where my OH (Packrat) had got the tea and a bit of cake in at a tea shop there. We locked the bike in the back of the Jeep as neither of us had remembered to bring a lock
. Once full of tea and cake, I then cycled to 7 miles shy of Cannich, via the back road as I simply could not face the climb up the hill at Aigas.
Apart from a couple of stiff hills, where I had to walk for 100 yards or so
as I lost all my momentum and then got cramp, granny gear not withstanding, I had a great ride. Got bullied by a bus who just could not wait the 50 yards or so for the huge, and clearly signposted passing spot. I decided that the hedge looked better than a coffin so dived for it, over the grass verge. I was concentrating on not dying so didn't get the name of the bus company, but there can't be too many on that route.
Packrat, drove from Beauly home, parked the jeep, grabbed his bike and pedalled along to meet me. I met up with him as Eskadale and even let him have a go on the new bike. I am more chuffed than a chuffed thing and can't stop grinning. Even the rain didn't dent my happiness as I rode along.
Packrat should have his within 3 weeks and he can't wait.
