As a law abiding cyclist, you should have stopped and given the Jaguar driver your unadultered thanks.

He wore flats on his tyres and risked his underpan and sump to avoid hitting a cyclist.

Was he stupid? He could have done a much more stupid thing and we would never had the pleasure of ComedyPilots posts again.

Traffic Island

Riding out of the village, a car overtook me, and only just got back in before the pinch point.

Sadly, the green Jaguar following, impatiently trying his luck, wasn't so fortunate and skidded to a halt wheels astride the kerbing?????

CP linky no worky. All I get is a very blurry image of a road just able to make out the central chevron markings? I thought your link was to Youtube footage of your encounter cheating death ..........

Was the Jag driver old, fat and bald?

I had one or two Fenland drivers steam up behind me, right to my rear wheel at a terrifying rate of knots, oh oh I am going to die time, locking up their car's wheels, skidding, with smoke coming off their tyres when they realised they had to slow drastically in a very very short distance cos they misjudged and couldn't get between me and an oncoming vehicle. They also gesticulated frantically and threateningly.

This thread demonstrates the need to video cycle rides

NO - it demonstrates why wearing a camera whilst riding a bike encourages you to create situations out of nothing. It is obvious that the OP would have stopped and let the Jag driver past if he had not been wearing a camera.

Ehhhh????
A common opinion, held by the anti-camera brigade, is that using a camera makes the cyclist more likely to do things that produce good video footage rather than avoid the developing situation - yet more victim blaming.

I don't think the OP was using a camera.

The link goes to google maps. Mind you, I can't see videos at work so I might have missed there being one.

What, those who have been caught out  ?

"You've infringed by 'uman rights to commit crime" brigade?

Did you consult the opinions of the anti-camera brigade? Is this the same rabble militia who go around blowing up or vandalising speed cameras or threatening to smash anyone filming with a camera who has filmed them doing something naughty such using a mobile phone whilst driving  ?

I make films for a living – perhaps we could make a film about the anti camera brigade… getting the consent forms signed might be a little challenging…

Filming people who don’t want to be filmed is a really good way to aggravate them…

On one occasion, when someone upset Mrs TC, my initial thoughts were to go and thump the git (I know it’s wrong and makes me just as bad as him etc – and I didn’t do it – it’s just how I felt) but I did decide to annoy the f**k out of the little tosser – I got my professional Nikon SLR – put on the flash and went and started taking pictures of him (in a public place) – it was like a red flag to a bull – he got completely and utterly pissed off, and ended up starting on me (like most little bullies he was all mouth and no trousers –a lot of little shoves and threats but no backbone). Exactly the response I wanted, him thoroughly wound up and annoyed - which was my intention, makes me laugh just thinking about it…

Given that he crashed into a traffic island - an incident that he could have avoided had he been more observant and less impatient - I think the answer is unquestionably yes.

Of course, that doesn't preclude him having been even more stupid. Trying to drive on two wheels to make the gap, for instance.

But the answer is still yes.
