As long as I breathe, I attack.
Bloke at work bought a subway last year on C2W and has never used it .

He has decided to start cycling to work but had no lights so i have lent him my back up sets ( 2 front + 2 rear ) to get him started !!

It might be petrol prices or he has decided to get fit but as he sees my me cycle (nearly) every day i am taking credit !!

A colleague went out and bought himself and his wife a bicycle. They now both cycle at least 5 miles a day all because he has seen my dogged persistance at cycling to work. I am overweight and used to be very unfit.

I've actually lost a round a stone and a half and have cycled 30 miles plus a few times now. I was really really pleased when he told me I was his inspiration. One of our receptionist said I was an inspiration to her as well and is in the process of getting herself a bike.

Makes it all the more worthwhile by doing my self a favour health wise and others finding the courage to do so too!

Well nice! well done you all guys.

My cousin has bought a nice roadie from Holland I think, just because he saw me cycling all this time!

Good stuff guys.

When your friends, neighbours and work colleagues see you, a normal person, commuting to work regularly their excuses for why they can't start to look very thin. It's the silent campaign.

I don't suppose I'll see many people from my work cycling in, mainly because we are sited out in the sticks on the Nantwich-Chester road. I am the only one from my department that cycles in, around 9 miles from near to Leighton Hosp. A lot of the people tend to comment that it is too far to cycle and get quite a few offers of a lift and I try to turn them down in the most polite way.

Although I went to the lock up my bike on Thursday and there were 3 or 4 other bikes in there, must be a record because of warm-ish weather we had that day. I didn't see the riders though.

I was so chuffed when a couple of friends who had been reading my trip journal said I had inspired them to cycle to work. There are so many people out there who could cycle but never think to do it.

The silent campaign, i like that.
As mentioned, a normal person commuting being seen every day is probably more effective than some 'z' list celeb telling people that they need to get on their bikes.
Also they will soon realise they getting good exercise as part of their normal day, ie getting to work.

They all go on fad diets at work and complain of no exercise.
I have offered to go round & collect them on my way to work - I pass at least 3 of their houses, they all decline unless I'm prepared to get a rickshaw.

The 'silent campaign' is great, but my colleagues consider I'm mad for riding in all weathers. I do have a really keen cyclist for a neighbour who regularly goes out but he's well out of my league.

Quassleberry, same at my place. I was in hysterics when one of the women told me she thought I was "superhuman" for riding 6 miles to work.

Hmm I often wonder if I could attach some "adverts" to my bike to advertise that advice and information IS available. Or ride with a banner that says "Cyclechat" LOL!

Glad to hear people are commuting by bike, great news. Coincidently this is what I do for a living, try and encourage employers to impliment 'Bike User Groups' to get more people cycling to work. If you are unhappy with the facilities at your workplace get in touch and we can try and work with your employers to provide a safe and secure place to store your bikes, washing facilities, lockers etc...
