Got new wheels due, and going for the Conti's, but unsure whether to go for the GP4000S or the S II. There's £5 difference between them at PBK when I factor in my 15% discount code. Worth the extra tenner or not?

I don't actually think there's any difference apart from the fact you can get colours now and larger sizes, which aren't actually in stock yet most places.

@bpsmith - the fellow clubmate I rode up Holme Moss with on Sat am had GP4000S II and I had GP4000S.

I got up quicker  So, on that evidence, no.

*note: he had the latest Dura-Ace Di2-equipped Cervelo S5, all the gear and is a decent climber. Me, I had my Secteur.

The GP4000s are one of, if not the best all-round race tyres you can get....any improvement in the Sii is likely to be miniscule.
I'd save the £10 for cake.

Not bothered in different sizes or colours. Looks like the S model is best to go for then. Cheers all.

Either that or cheaper to make/a revamp to aid sales. Although the later is hardly required?

I ended up with the S, based on the advice on here and the web. Talk is that the S II are equal in the dry, but not as good in the wet, which made it a no brainer with a fiver savings per tyre. I have fitted my new wheels, cassette and tyres and am amazed at the difference it has made overall. Cant put my finger on exactly which component is making the greatest benefit, but who cares.
