In March I will be 3 years of my 40th - sharp intake of breath!.

One of my goals is to cycle a stage of one of the grand tours, or if possible a stage of both the Giro (fell in love with this tour last year) and Tour de France. I want to start looking into this and beging planning it etc.

Can anyone point me in the right direction, recommend decent companies / websites or which ones are best to do. Finally, are there any of you, which I am sure there is, that have had the wonderful opportunity of taking part in a stage of either of the above - would love to pick your brains.

Cheers
Ash

Yes, here...

I had a charity and they were sound about reserving tickets but it might be worth dropping these guys an email anyway - they arrange the whole lot - accommodation, entry fee, travel etc. Although I only wanted entry to the event and made my own arrangements travel and accommodation wise, they even said they'd refund the difference between getting entry from them and going direct through the Etape Du Tour, which was cheaper but harder to get tickets from.

Your other option is to go through one of the many charities that offer all the above in exchange for fundraising, just put in Etape du Tour and it should come up with loads.

Good luck and get training if it's a hilly mountainous stage. And I'm 40 in February so plenty of time.

It's a memorable thing to do and despite the shitty weather, it was a great experience.
