I’m after buying a 2nd hand gravel bike but there’s so many to choose from. I won’t be going long distance on it or doing much dirt tracking. Basically I just want to ride it through the winter. Any ideas on what I should be looking for? Thank you in advance
Oh and I’m looking around £400-£500

Is it for off roading or really just an all surface winter bike?
For your budget, given gravel bikes are trendy, you won’t likely get anything super new., I’d look at one of the 2014-2017 Boardman CX offerings with disc brakes and a double chainset (you likely won’t get 1x for £500 even used)
Fit new 35-40mm tyres, mudguards. Possibly a better mechanical disc brake like the BB7 or TRP Spyres.

What size do you need? Where are you based? Prepared to travel?

Otherwise you could get new for £529 albeit basic kit

You should be looking for something that's in good condition and that's been looked after and we'll maintained.
Not trying to be funny but do you know how to check it over? Do you know what size you need?
Anything around that price point isn't going to be very new.
You should also check it hasn't been stolen.
Vicky's suggestion of new but basic might be the best way to go.

If you can stretch your budget a bit this could be suit:

It’s basically for the roads won’t be doing any off road. I’d need a 53cm size bike and I’m based in Hull

I have no clue what to look for if I’m honest when looking a hike over I can easily get someone I know to help me though. I’ve been looking at the triban ones they look ok for what I will need them for.

Any bike with disc brakes, clearance for mudguards and say 32mm plus tyres is fine for a winter roadbike,
what do you have currently?

Just looked at some reviews on YouTube and it’s comes out really well. Also checked on bike radar gets a great review on there too 👍

Read up on the wheels and tyre changes which can be an Achilles heel if the Tribans (more the 520 but check out the reviews).
most sizes are out of stock too
