I thought it pretty good, and vastly better than my (admittedly low) expectations. A few plot holes, but good all the same.

I went for 2d version - would probably have been sick if I'd gone for 3d

Ooh goody. Are we about to have our very own Cyclechat version of one of the numerous interweb discussions about the flaws in the physics of Gravity? Although it has to be said, virtually every knowledgeable person who has commented on the flaws has said they do not actually detract from a corking good film - I unashamedly loved it.

It was a bit heavy on the re-birth symbolism, and there was no earthly (sic) reason to show Bullock in her under- crackers.

The film was also totally unrealistic. No woman tied to George Clooney would let go.

It's better in 3D, if you saw it in 2D i would imagine it was not as visually good.

The mistake they made was having George and Sandra. I once saw a film about two people that go left behind snorkling, and eventually got eaten by sharks (based on true events). The actors were unknown. at the beginning i was a bit disappointed they weren't famous actors (i hadn't reviewed the film before i went) but having during the film, i realised that having unknown actors made me empathise with them more than i would have if they'd been famous. It made it seem more real.

With Gravity, i couldn't get over that it was George and Sandra. That somehow made it feel unreal because i know they are not astronauts.

I watched it at home, wish I'd went to the cinema as it would of been way better. I don't mind Clooney, although he is overrated. He was great in Burn After Reading, cracked me up that machine he made in his cellar, Bullock has always got on my nerves, but she was ok in this film. Better than expected but not as good as the hype, just IMVHO.

[QUOTE 2840908, member: 1314"]Gravity - sank like a brick...

... I think it would have been better with the Russian dogs and monkeys in space having an internecine war. The Bullock and Clooney version was just bang, bang, bang.

Anyway, my Uncle Charlie beat Gagarin into space.

Nevertheless, without Gravity Newton would never have been able to predict the existence of Neptune through examining the motions of Uranus.

Nevertheless, without Gravity Newton would never have been able to predict the existence of Neptune through examining the motions of Uranus.

It wasn't Newton, it was a joint effort by an Englishman and a French chappie, obviously the English chap did all the main work while the French bloke swanned about smelling of garlic and stuff.

See how I resisted making any comment about the motions of Uranus!

I've not seen the film but I can still disagree with you there.

Some say it's a nod to Alien, because of course Alien would make literally no sense at all without Sigourney Weaver wandering around in bra and pants for a bit, it's crucial to the film.

The Heat with Bullock was better than Gravity.

Only God Forgives was a better film this year, so was Blue Is The Warmest Colour.
