First, he pulls out in front of me.
Secondly he takes the wrong lane through the roundabout and pulls across the lane at the exit into stationary traffic
Then he beeps at me when I go around him (not going to undertake anything that is pointing towards the kerb!) and pull back into my correct lane
Then he squeezes me on the inside to take a rat-run through a supermarket car park at dangerous speed (5mph limit in such car parks!)

At that squeeze, I admit I got a little cross and followed him into the car park, intending to perhaps get a chance to put my point rather than listen to his monosyllabic rants through a crack in a window.

So, he cuts lanes across me, in an attempt to "take me out" but I didn't abuse him, I just shouted "are we going to have some fun then?" and clap him as he takes off, cuts across marked parking spaces, takes the right hand lane at the exit and nearly takes the front of the car in the left lane out as he cuts across. Then he turns right at the next junction - happens that is also the way I now need to go to get home.

So, up the hill I pedal, and, 1/4 mile later, guess who I pass at the traffic lights? Anger has subsided so I give him a cheery wave...should have seen him take off!

Figured I might as well see how much faster cars really are than bikes for a bit, and I catch up with him in another 1/2 mile at traffic lights, grin and wave again. Swings out, flies through the lights on the wrong side of the road and then he turns left at the next junction.

By this point he's heading back on himself...now, if he were simply a rat-runner, he would have gone a much more direct and clear route to get to where he is headed. It's at this point that I realise that he's cutting down streets and up hills running away from this grinning cyclist that just keeps on popping up no matter what he does or how dangerously he cuts others up at junctions. (I didn't even have to RLJ to keep up...the satisfaction is purely with keeping up whilst riding safely and legally). I let the poor sod go on his way at the next junction...

I think he must have thought I was some super-fit hard-nut...don't think the thought even occurred that the reason the bike kept popping up alongside is that cars are slow on urban roads at 6pm

Maybe I shouldn't have. I normally try to be calmer and not wind up idiots who do a good enough job of winding themselves up. I definitely shouldn't have clapped whilst riding no-handed through an un-gritted car park. Could have ended up with egg (and gravel) on my face given the ice and snow. I couldn't help but laugh at this poor idiot running away from a bicycle and not actually being able to get away at all.:laugh:

Perhaps it was my brand-new hi-vis gloves on their virgin outing that freaked him as I waved...

Got home pouring with sweat but it was good fun...and got me nice and warm on a snowy evening!

(wonder if he'll learn from the experience not to cut up cyclists?)

That is brilliant and funny. Cyclists can be easy targets until some drivers suddenly realise that some cyclists can be bigger and more angrier then they are.

Don't think you should wind him up but it's still funny and I probably would have done the same.

It's a double edged sword isn't it? If someone is a tit, and you could wind them up so that they only hurt themselves, it would be ok. The trouble is, when they get apoplectic and run over an innocent ped in their rush to get away.

Still, nice to think he might have been properly scared. Let's hope it is just him who has a heart attack over it...

I think the grinning and waving shows beautiful self control...
