My sympathy. I'll join you in anger at the P***************** Fairy. I had one last Wednesday and another one yesterday. B)

Since mid-November, I've had seven .. approx one a fortnight. And, yes, I do keep records !!

It's been worse since I put the knobblies back on the commuter to cope with the winter mud .. and snow! Think I'm gonna put the slicks back on .. they seem more resistant to the ministrations of the Fairy, as well as going better in dry conditions of course. And the woods are kinda dry again now.

I think I must be blessed, I have not had a puncture in years.

Same here, over a year now without a puncture ( and I do say that word, as I'm not scared of no fairy)

Get some decent tyres guys

Agree on the tyres thing .. the slicks seem much more resilient than the knobblies. Only one of those punctures (the first!) was in the slicks, and that was on the day a colleague noted I'd not had "many punctures on your bike, have you?" .. he was right, and the previous one had been on the knobblies but I still haven't forgiven him for drawing the Fairy's attention to me.

The one this week was new in that it was glass .. most of the others have been big old thorns.

There I was fitted the new inner tube in and thought it would be like three years before the p*nct*r* fairy visited. It was the next day ironically and a bloody great nail.:boxing:

Been very good since though.

We don't have the thorn problem here...most of my p*******s are from glass. Usually it's brown beer bottle glass. From my very unscientific observation, I'd generally agree with the "slicks get fewer p*******s" theory. With a slick, if the invading culprit doesn't go through right away, then it's gone. A workmate with treaded tires seems to get more p*******s. I'm guessing that the tread picks up debris and carries it along, giving it more chances to get pounded through with each revolution. Anyone else want to weigh in with an alternate theory?

I've mentioned before the Schwalbe Hurricanes I've been using the past couple of years. No punctures and even found a 1 1/2" nail had been stopped by the kevlar.

I've just bought some Marathons in the hope they perform just as well.

awww mate thats to bad, seems like you might need some new tyres though

these are mountain bike tyres - knobbly bits stuck on much thinner carcass - the knobbly wwears down but the carcass remains same thickness and it is there where the thorns get through, I don't see how new tyres will preven thronb penetration.

maybe trees shed their thorns in spring time?

I didn't reply to this thread yesterday through fear......blooming got one on the way in this morning.....double quick change as it wasn't in a 'pleasant' area, and I'd be late for a meeting. Cold hands didn't help.
