Just for info, not sure how many people on here commute through Greenwich Park in SE London but it's now got a 20mph limit. At the moment, the police are just warning anyone caught over the limit but from the beginning of May they will begin strictly enforcing it.

Thanks to Greenwich Cyclists group for pointing this out.

Thats interesting. I heard that speed limits for bikes are not enforceable as bikes aren’t legally required to have a speedometer.

There was a similar thread a while back about a cyclist speed limit on a promenade somewhere

Errr - how do you know your speed strictly?

Yep I have a CatsEye bike computer but that is not accurate or take into account the true circumference of the tyres. Also if they use a radar/laser gun - unlike a car there is no stable surface to provide reflection.

Or do we just accept the word of an enforcement officer that you were going too quick?

No idea to be honest.

I'll be finding a different route to work which is a shame as I've only just started going through the park. But on the main avenue, keeping it under 20 takes both brakes.

Oh well back to Blackheath Hill
