Only finally got round to watching this today.

I Remember being aware of cycling at that time and casting an eye over certain stages of the tour, but I had no idea of the back story including the shooting.

Great stuff.

Fignon was robbed a bit imho , in an TT in another race later in the year he was banned from using the aero bars , plus he had a saddle sore on the day of the last stage .
Doesnt take anything away from Lemonds achievement to come back from near death plus overcome lots of other stuff though

That was my first exposure to the tour for me too and then the ride over ditching beacon a few years later.

I did wonder whether Guimard was bigging it up (Fignon's testicle, that is)

Fignon said it was a saddle sore right along the crease of his shorts that caused the problem. It meant he couldn't sit properly nor pedal properly. Guimard was being economical with the truth as sadly Fignon is no longer around to defend himself
