Grinding paste

I decided to give my bike a proper wash today.

I have been giving it a quick wipe over and rinse to get rid of the salt and grit that's accumulated from my commuting. Today though I thought I would take a proper look at the drivetrain and Oh My, talk about thick gunky paste all over the place, eeek.

So I got the degreaser out, cleaned the chain, got an old T-Shirt and cleaned the chainrings, derailleur, jockey wheels and all the other bits.

It's just drying out now then I'll give it a nice oiling and then maybe go out for a quick 20miler.

Tomorrow it's back to work so I hopefully won't have any problems with the bike.

Good Job! It is shocking the amount of grit and salt that get into your 'bits' over winter, fortunately most of the salt still on the roads seems to be diminishing rapidly, so atleast it should stay clean for a while longer.

Spring deep clean for mine this weekend too I think.

Did a deep clean on mine last weekend. Tis like a new bike now, silent smooth running. Has been a joy to ride it this week especially as it is now dry. A joy except for a number of incidents yesterday.

I gave mine a good wash this morning. The drive train could do with a good deep clean, and the brakes ought to come off for a polish and grease on the bosses, but that will have to wait till next time. It still looks a lot better though, far too nice to go out this afternoon and get it all dirty again!
