My flatmate just got home and informed the gritting lorries are out in force on the streets of Nottingham. Guess this will apply to other areas too so if you haven't already time to get the chubbier tyres and the mudguards on!

While it wasnt THAT cold las night, just ads I got home at 5.40pm I noticed it was snowing, while it was VERY VERY Light, its still a concern that after snowfall, we still didnt have gritter out.......

Stay Safe out there

My daughter reported brief snow flurries in Derby yesterday afternoon. No sign of gritters when I was out later though. It was about 3C first thing this morning and no sign of overnight frost - was actually colder last week / week before with a deep frost a couple of days but no sign of gritters then either!

Dressed up like an arctic explorer on my way in today. Fairly clement weather, big piles of grit brushed up against the sides of Derby's streets.

Absolutely knackered due to sweating my arse off! Bloody weathermen.

Anyone know a good website for actually accurately predicting the next day's weather?

Get an outdoor thermometer.

+1 outdoor thermometer - was plus 4c this morning. Also when getting bike out of garage, look like some weirdo by kicking the road surface, running hand on car to see if there is any ice...... look at other cars etc. Was convinced it would be icy as we had rain rather than snow (Gaz is a bit further up than me) and it looked very icy at about 3am (don't ask bad shoulder).

Ready to get MTB out, but got the quick bike out instead.

Likely to be much colder tonight a we had more cloud cover last night. Hoping the roads dry a little.

sweat my knackers off this morning. Thermals under long bottoms. Two long sleeves plus short sleeve top. Inner gloves under full finger gloves. Beenie hat under helmet. Overshoes.

Within a mile (of 15) i realised i was over-dressed but still better to be too warm than too cold.

The tow path still has a lot of standing water on it from the previous wet weather and i've just been outside and we have +1deg C and falling. The roads are dry, but the tow path will be icy as hell, so i've decided to drive in tomorrow instead.
