Just a thought - large chunks of Europe don't use grit even on the roads - why are we so crap. Or is it the usual - It's always 'somebody else's fault'

I'll believe it when I see it. Last winter, I stopped by the grit bin by the entrance ramp I use to the Railway Path to chuck some grit on a patch of ice. Coke & beer cans, fag ends and crisp packets are not efficient at dealing with ice:angry:.

Not sure I was looking through photos for something else when I came across it but taken last Feb it's unlikely to be sweeping leaves though it's the same size as they one I've been meeting on the cycle path recently. So perhaps dual function.
