Ground-breaking technique for hills

Apologies if you've seen this invention before - a conveyer, set into the road surface, to carry you and your steed up a steep incline! It's in Trondheim, Norway. Maybe Dayvo has heard of it! The slope it ascends looks pretty steep and there are people other than cyclists taking advantage of the ride!

I don't know about the other forum members but I've never seen that before, don't know if cleats would slip off the steel 'step'!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Reminds me a bit of a pavement escalator I went on in Hong Kong. Except that wasn't for bikes)

They could do an SPD version too, solve 'cleat slip' as Keith mentioned.

I agree many dedicated cyclists would see that steep hill as a challenge but the lift seems a fun thing rather than to be taken too seriously. The potential pitfalls you all mentioned are interesting... unclipping and missed "dropped money" opportunities! As a boy I had a dread of getting a shoelace or clothing stuck under an escalator and being dragged under only to reappear like strawberry jam!
