Illy red or lavazza red, brew it in a stove top Bialetti.

In my memory, one of the best cups of coffee I ever had was purchased from a Palestinian street vendor nestling under the old city wall of Jerusalem, having just come out of early morning communion in St George's Cathedral.

I am absolutely sure that the identical cup of coffee, made and served in my kitchen, would taste mediocre at best.

It's a bit more complicated than that...
Warm the pot..
I'm all for ritual, but that's one I can't be bothered with for coffee.

I wonder whether that's a hangover from the days before central heating - although with a nod to @swansonj and science I suspect it doesn't actually make a great deal of difference, even for a heavy earthenware teapot kept at the temperature of a winter kitchen without heating. I certainly wouldn't bother for coffee, which needs a lower water temperature.

Have tried three different ones so far, a couple of Tesco's own and Costa.

Having been an instant coffee drinker for years, am really enjoying the difference.

Got a pack of the Lavazza to try next, but as I only drink it on my none working days it might be a week or two before that gets opened.
