My advice would not be to listen to CC forum members - get some legal advice. It's better to be properly apprised of the situation.

Oh, I didn't mean to imply that they were insisting I take it down or that there was any implication legal advice was needed. They've only asked nicely so far. Perhaps I gave the wrong impression with the tone comment I made earlier - that just related to the formal language of the email, and my perception of the lack of willingness to accept any responsibility.

You're filming in public, and happen to catch a law breaking offense on film. You post it on a public website and they want you to take it down. Seems clear they are embarrassed by it, but you have no need to remove it - what you've done is perfectly legal.

For shame O, I though you of all people would recognise an Epimenides paradox when you write one!

LOL. Thanks, I do need to be reminded from time to time that I am not an omniscient CC meta-member...:?:

If you're going to call their bluff and keep it up (and tell them so), let us know how they reply. I'd still want to know my legal positon however. If I were you, I'd email the Information Commissioner.

Already been done by Magnatom, and it's perfectly legal apparently.

I'd want to check that the same IC advice posted by Magnaton applies to Group 4 and their registration details - it might well do, but I'd want to know my position first.

I've been doing photography for years, since I was 6 - now being 31 - and all the legal stuff can be found on places like Amatuer Photographer's website, along with much debate on this matter (as many of us have had run-ins with illiterate oiks who think its illegal to get a camera out in public)

If you ever get challenged you can refer the individual to the Home Office. Any challenge by the Police, PCSOs or street wardens need to be complained about immediately to their superiours. People have been arrested in places over a camera, and others issued stop and search. I'd imagine video recording might get similar issues in time as our practice spreads.
