What is it about neighbours . They are so bluddy selfish and inconsiderate. Grrrr

Actually I was so angry today that I was seriously worried I was going to smack him one on the nose and with 18 stone behind it I'm sure it would have been a bit serious. Calmed down a bit now.

I live down a small private lane of 7 cottages. Its only wide enough for one car and we frequently have to back up to let each other in or out.

Today I am struggling to lift a heavy washing machine into a Mondeo boot on my own. They are very heavy and the boot is high off the ground.

My neighbour watched me struggle with this for 3-4 minutes without lifting a finger . They stayed in the car getting increasingly angry because I was holding him up.

Then they wait for me to reverse 60 yards round a blind bend with a washing machine obscuring my view.
Bugga that I wait for him to back up 20 yards to let me out of the drive. He is sitting there shaking his head in amazement that I should expect him to back up.

I am beside myself with anger now so get out the car and walk up the drive to have a few choice words just as he decides to back up. I get back in the car and drive off furiously .

Tell me I am being selfish or inconsiderate . Tell me I am making too much of this
They haven't come out of their house all day since and I dread seeing them again cos I'm sure to lose my temper and say things I'll regret.

Conspicuously write down their names in a little black with "To be dealt with come the revolution" on the front.

As an aside, I always got the impression that Peanut was a woman! Don't know why, much in the same way that I thought Arch was a guy for ages.

Sorry.

No. Neighbours can be like that. I live in a cul de sac where getting out can be challenging due to the physical design of the road. About a month ago one of my neighbours was loading up a trailer to take it to the recycling centre. Next door neighbour got angry decided she wanted to drive out and couldn't wait. She is not the best at reversing out and couldn't see that waiting was the best option for her, had a go anyway and nearly clipped the trailer and two cars.

I refer to the phenomenon as chariot syndrome. People expect to be able to drive their cars straight out from narrow or challenging parts of the road at great speed without being held up as if they were driving the batmobile.

don't worry I thought you were a bit of a pratt for ages can't think why

So Arch is a female  mmm

I've had a similar incident with someone who lives on our road but they're not our immediate neighbours. Wouldn't wait for me to turn into my drive, and instead blasted his horn and went to overtake me. It would have taken me 3 seconds to move.

Our immediate neighbours are something else. We live in a semi detached house. They own three dogs who bark and howl the whole time, they have a 3 year old who screams from 5 am (I can forgive the child), and they hoover as late as 12.15am, and 6am. Despite this, the one time we were doing DIY recently they asked us not to make noise after 7.30pm cos their kid was asleep. We wouldn't dream of that anyway.

One of these days I'm going to say something if I'm not careful.

We get on fine with our neighbours. Sorry ;0)
Well I get on fine with most of the others. We have our own resident's association etc . Maybe it was just me then .
I have been brought up to help others.

I just cannot comprehend how someone can just sit and watch someone else struggle with something and not offer to help. They are the sort of people who would walk around someone lying ill on the pavement

Don't do anything you might regret Peanut, or at least, don't get caught.

My sister and her fella have a similar problem, there's them and another house at the end of a short lane. Things are better now between them but it was pretty heated at times.

I had a bit of a row with the chap after he'd started playing up because I'd parked for 10 minutes on the drive to pick Tony up one night. Tony had his leg in plaster at the time.

The woman is currently being charged by the police because she keyed a workmans van who had parked slightly obscuring the end of the drive a couple of weeks ago.

There's quite a list of other oddities of theirs but that's between them and the gatepost.

that day came today for me. i don't think I left them with any illusion as to how I felt.

I just think most folk only see everything from their own perspective all the time. Its just selfishness and inconsideration for others.
