Uh... Huh... 🤔🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
You still have not explained.
While it remains the responsibility of each competitor to keep abreast of the precise rules and regulations of the quiz as administered by @classic33 (ignorance of the law is no defence) It should be recognised that the current ruleset is a recent modification, after an exploratory committee initially made some suggestions regarding broadening of the sport to provide competition throughout multiple levels, with a provisional timeline a new formation from next season. These were brought before a peer group of stakeholders but received little extra input, and classic33 is in the process of implementing them with a more immediate effect than originally envisaged.
The original suggestions can be found here:
I think that from next season we should merge this with the BBC quiz, and then also include the Guardian Saturday quiz, which is a far tougher proposition. We should split the league into two, with promotion and relegation on a three year cycle, and only the top league league gets automatic invites to the Saturday quiz, where the points are doubled. The top two players from the lower league will also be invited to the Guardian Saturday quiz, but these will be determined on a year by year basis. The quizmaster* will have an additional two invites for the Saturday quiz per week to distribute, but only to those in the top two thirds of the lower league. The Guardian kid's quiz will be open to the lower league players, but this will have half points. Top league players will also be able to claim points in the kid's quiz, but only four of them for any one quiz, invites must be requested in advance and will be determined by the quizmaster. This is a very transparent and simple system which should be easy for all. Around halfway through the second season we'll change how points are distributed and introduce point based fines for e.g. moderator warnings, wearing the wrong length socks or waste disposal infringements (putting the wrong bin out, forgetting to put the bin out, putting the wrong waste in the bin etc.). To ensure these infringements are properly self reported, the quizmaster shall each week randomly pick a poster and stand outside their house on a bin night, dressed as the quizmaster's current avatar.
*@classic33 of course
With some follow-up modifications based on open discussions with the stakeholder community here:
In cases like this, I like to think: "What would the UCI do?".
That's why we'd be splitting the yearly lower league competition into two and reweighting the points in it. The tri-yearly promotion/relegation system would remain unaffected, except that we would randomly double some points for no apparent reason. We'd also introduce new rules governing screen-width as a safety feature, and demand maximum rendered font sizes, and also require all participants to be geotagged at all times. Sock length rules will be unaffected, though we'll establish a working committee to come with recommendations for sock colour. Mismatched socks will now trigger a yellow card system, and wearing socks with sandals a direct DSQ.
Final decision on which rule alterations to accept and how to implement them, remains as ever with classic33
