Does any one know if the GBW is ridable after all the rain we have had in the last week and over the weekend? I didn't cycle it last week as I have had a few days off so don't know. Thanks.

Which bit do you do? Mrs and I did it this morning from Longstanton to Cambridge, its fine apart from they must have cut the greenery at the side over the weekend so its a bit mushy and full of sticks in places but certainly passable. I'm looking forward to fording my way through Earith on the way back whilst all the people in cars faff about, the road was completely underwater this morning

Between St Ives and Swavesey is the usual flooding - passable either on the tracks (careful!) or on the embankment next to the tracks. It is probably the worst i've seen it at the moment. Saw a guy this morning more or less up to his cross bar!

Thanks. Sorry should have said the stretch St.Ives to Swavesey. I am expecting it to be flooded as it was earlier in the year.
Everytime I ride it when it is flooded I curse BAM Nuttal and Cambs Country Council for their total incompetence.
I was going to go for a ride today as I am off for a few days this week as well, but the skies have suddenly got very dark. Oh-oh more rain.
If any one could post a couple of pics this would be very very helpful.

I know of this busway - the political shenanigans were a regular feature in our local news for some years - but actually know little about them. Which bit do you ride on?

Well I am going to give up the bus way and go back to the road, after a year of it I am bored and more importantly the amount of debris on there because there are no cars is ruining the components of my bike. So fair weather only for the bus way and road when its damp I think.

Would also mention, I was waiting for the bus (long story) and 2 cyclists were coming along the section back to St Ives, and both were on the guided bus way tracks, travelling on the east bound sections but going west, obviously thinking they can get out of the way of bus much easier because they can see it early enough. Now call me old fashioned but coming around near the top of the blind bend, a bus hurtling toward you at 60 mph, your going to have be one hell of a cyclist, to see it, stop and get out of the way, cause I am not sure how stable one of those double decker's would be trapped in that guide way with the brakes on full...
If this flooding continues, I really do think some cyclist will get killed by cycling on there. I mean if a road was flooded, you would not cycle down train tracks, why people think the bus way is different is beyond me....

Kevin, how much longer does it take you to go via Fenstanton/Fen Drayton? Also i heard today that there's flooding at Fen Drayton at the roundabout near the pub....

It normally adds about 12-15 minutes. The problem, with the bus way is the stop start along each section and the dreadful traffic lights, that when you press the button wait for a natural gap anyway !
Normally an hour by road bike, but I have given up on the bus way with the road bike because f the mess it generates when wet, plus there have been some works going on just after the longstanton section, and some guy has been driving vans and diggers about and there is mud everywhere.
I have been informed by the wife, that the Low road is also closed....
