Chips & curry sauce (from the chippy).

Fried eggs on toast, with the eggs done in bacon fat (very very rarely these days).

Full english breakfast with fried bread AND thickly sliced crusty bread to mop up the leftover combined tomato, mushroom and egg yolk juices and a splosh of HP Sauce.

Who started this? I'm bloody starving now!

Fry ups. But what turns a fry up from a normal bi-weekly treat into a guilty pleasure is:

a tin of mechanically recovered meat. I hate to think what's in it or how it's made, but it's delicious fried in (even more) fat until crispy.

Only done it once, er, twice: a bottle of vodka, a bottle of kahlua and several pints of milk. I lost far too many hours crashed out on a beach in Cambodia.

Christmas puddings (had two halves last week when my best mate visited from Australia, and to our absolute delight, found that one of the supermarkets near me is still selling them! Had them with custard, cream and brandy butter as well). I LOVE THEM!

Any kind of chocolate biscuit, esp. bourbons, digestives, hobnobs etc.

Chocolate ice-cream.

I'm sure there's more!

Is the guilt a sustainabilty thing in this case? Handy consumer fish guide here...

OH GAWD! OK, I'll lay off the Mahi Mahi and the tapas and I don't particularly like calamari.

No way I'm not having that soup or the shellfish. Sorry.

Ha! Mahi mahi isn't necessarily a bad choice, depending on fishing methods. I was just wondering where the guilt came in, as most of the stuff on the thread is about things that are seen to be "bad" for you. Anyway, I save excess bacon fat to fry eggs in, and don't feel guilty about it at all. I quite like Scampi Fries though, which seems a bit wrong...

I might just add that Lidl are not well known for a progressive approach to industrial relations. Not that I wish to spoil the taste of your soup. Actually I once bought a packet of five velvet swimming crabs in Lidl, which seemed a strangely exotic purchase in that context...
