Have you had a look at Guitar Pro 6?
I love it to bits and I look for songs on ultimate-guitar tabs- there are some dodgy bits of tab out there though so do be aware of that - anyway, if you pick a song, scroll down until you see where it says 'guitar pro' and click it, you can download the tab (and staff notation if that floats your boat) and learn using it. You can hear the notes, highlight bits and play them on repeat, speed it up, slow it down, pick the bass line and all sorts. I love it and have found it really helpful. Currently using it to learn Tunnel of Love.

I wouldn't say it's cheap, The price is listed as 59.95 euros to 75e. Looks a bit complicated for me tbh, i'm still only brushing the surfice, lol
I was thinking something like this site i have just found. http://www.e-chords.com/ Looks to be ok and much cheaper so i may give it a try, i only want the sheet music just to grab a few chords rather than video, although i'm giving the solo of Hotel California a go at the moment from vids.

I'm in the same boat with trying to learn, In my teens we use sheet music from a guy on a stall in Romford Market, just played the chords and worked out some of the picking out from the chords. Used to be the stuff like The Beatles, The Yardbirds, The Animals etc in them days, but that was over 50 years ago and i forgot most now.
I still remember the basic chords and how to tune the guitar, getting a little quicker now as well so all is not lost.
I'd be interested to know how your getting on @Dave the Smeghead?
To update I found the Romford Rockers - a group teaching session led by Terry Rolison. Going well and giving me some structure to my learning. Its £11 for a 2 hour session and theres usually 5 to 6 in the lesson. Learnt a number of new songs and techniques. Just need more time to practice but I am in tbe middle of decorating the house at the moment so it's tough on time.
