Wow @SteCenturion you have serious GAS issues! :laugh:

I now have;
Yamaha C40 classical
Epiphone Les Paul Special II electric
Yamaha F310 acoustic
Westfield B220 electro acoustic

I don't like the Westfield so it is currently for sale.

I'm getting quite frustrated at the moment. I've probably been learning for nearly a month now and don't feel like I'm getting very far. I've memorised D, A, E, Am, Dm and Em but D in particular is winding me up. I just can't get it right. Usually have a finger getting in the way on another string etc. I have also tried playing one of Justin's beginner songs (I thought I'd buy the beginners song book as a way of contributing to the sites honour system) and I'm just s*** at switching between chords. I try to practice the chords everyday but still can't get the D chord down (Dm is even worse with the stretching!). I am going to be stuck on these cords for ever at the rate I'm going.
It'll get to the point where I can tell you every single chord but not be able to play them.
It has given me an immense respect for those people that can not only play, but sing at the same time.
Practice practice practice. Justin is great but don't fall for his easy A chord positioning as you'll only have to change it at about chapter 8 and get slow all over again.
I have been playing for 3 months and 4 days now and my chord changes are still a bit dodgy but I keep on at it. I also have a fabby guitar instructor who I see every week. I had all sorts of problems with D and Dm but it seems to have rectified itself now. Paying for guitar instructor and a few lessons will pay dividends, even if you see one once a month.

When I was starting out I found it very helpful to have some fun mixed in with the serious practice so I warm up, practice whatever it is I'm going to practice for at least an hour then just have fun.

Being a rock/metal fan fun for me was learning power chords and some simple single note fills (both fairly easy), crank the overdrive and just go nuts without worrying too much about getting things right.

Hey up. I'm still practicing the guitar (I'm impressed I've stuck it out for so long!). I'm on stage 7 of Justin's beginner course. Pretty much got all the chords In those stages down pat now other than the F barre chord which is hit and miss. Not that great at switching between chords all the time either, especially with B7 but I'll get there in the end I'm sure (or I certainly hope!).
I've sold the Westfield guitar as well as I didn't like it. I'm trying to resist trying to buy another electro acoustic at the moment. I've got a hankering for a Tanglewood even though I've never played one. Played my teachers Crafter, that was okay and I quite liked my friends Washburn as well but the Tanglewood still has some allure over me. Will have to find a music shop that sells them.

Good to hear @Plax that you've stuck with your guitar practice.

Wish I could say the same as family/work life rarely allows these fays. Hey Ho.

Good to that the thread is now resurrected.

Tanglewood are from what I've read in mags, a very well respected brand in a lower to lower mid price bracket.

Must polish up my Takamine & give it a tickle.

Then;
I used to have a Hofner President semi-acoustic (mid 80's)

Well, that's how it was internally labelled, btu I could never find it on any guitar sites

Now;
None, but, I'd love a Gretsch G6120 - ideally a Brian Setzer signature model

However, this one, takes the biscuit (& the entire boxful!!!)
Could get probably get a custom Storck for that price!!

Hagstrom ultra swede in tobacco sunburst, lush guitar currently gathering dust in the back room as playing it obsessively and swilling down Newcastle brown was one of the reasons I became such a portly gent a few years ago.

Think I've just about burnt most of the ale off so it might see the amp and fx pedal again soon.

Nice axe pal.

Occasionally try with no Fx, I find it makes you work harder/better @ getting your chops down.

It is so nice, I forget how nice sometimes.

Ahhhh, it's been ages since I did anything with my chops, let alone get them down :ohmy: It's gonna be back to practicing minor pentatonics over and over :laugh:

I agree with your fx comment tho, I played the axe when I bought it in the shop clean through this massive Marshall stack. I nearly cried :wub:.
