in 1986 i was in a chippy with a few lads from college... one was from Barrow-in-Furness and turned every head in the chippy when he said "do you do cheese & chips?" ...not a single person had ever heard the like and everyone claimed it sounded disgusting, apart from me. I thought it was great idea and have been putting cheese on my chips ever since, much to the bemusement of others... these days there's not many chippies that don't do cheese & chips, but my home made version is far far better, especially when bacon bits are involved

Being from Weymouth originally we used to get in as many bands and beers on Friday nights in the numerous pubs, then it was off to 'Scoffers' (take away open till very late) for chips, cheese and beans. Still a favourite, but people do think I'm mad.

Never had any free gloves though...
