Had my credit card stopped ...

It gets me right here when I witness the touching generosity of you chaps and chapesses.

Thanks Longers, but I've just plucked and dressed next door's cat. It isn't very big, but it'll do for Christmas lunch and soup for boxing day.

Cat is nice, tastes a bit like rabbit, but dog is better as it tastes a bit like beef, very tasty when spiced up a tad.

Turned out they were suspicious about a £10 transaction to Halfords

Can you blame them?......

I travel a lot around South East asia, Credit cards can be a pain these day unless you remember to give the card provider your travel details. I have had to fly back from Thailand back to Singapore before now, just to draw money off my debit card as the banks have blocked it use in thaailand, because I had changed my route.
The answer before going away anywhere even here in the UK or Europe tell the banks, as anything unusual from your usual pattern of use will get the card blocked; and give them your mobile phone number so they can contact you to check the transaction. saves a lot of hassle

A while back, some dodgy petrol station had got my Maestro card details and were using it to buy credit for mobile phones.

I saw the items on my bank statement and contacted the bank, who gave me a refund!
I had the same thing - two mobile top-ups for the wrong network, only I don't have a car so it wasn't a petrol station to blame. No problem getting the refund, but it's a damn nuisance!

I go to Thailand a lot as well to see my other half and I have to phone my bank twice before I go to make sure that they understand where I am. The Co-op bank have had a habit in the past of blocking my card abroad evebn though I've told them where I'm going. I mainly use a pre-paid mastercard now when I'm abroad. My CC was blocked a few weeks agao when I bought flights on BA. A lot of stolen CC's apparently are used on the BA website according to my bank. Nothing to do with BA of course but my bank automatically query any BA transaction now.

We had our card cloned at an Indian restaurant in Holcombe Brook, Bury. A few days later, just before Christmas, one Mrs Baig went on the rampage with a copy of the card and helped herself to £1700 worth of petrol, food from Tesco, hotel rooms, saris, sweets, but we got the lot back shortly after Christmas. Not a nice experience. Police couldn't give a damn, even though we gave them the statement, which looked like her itinerary for two days and all they had to do was go and check a few CCTV cameras

Last time I was in Nigeria I paid my hotel bill with my business Barclaycard and within a minute my mobile rang with BC checking on the transaction. That was impressive.

My details were taken about a year ago, a pain when it happens, but the CC company got it all sorted really quick. To them it's just part of doing business.

Someone tried to do a balance transfer to my credit card - company texted me asking to reply - sent a text 'no' back and they called about it.

Ended up having to get a new card and web login details.

Wife has been done once as well - bank card, but this was stopped quickly.

Now that's what I call an Indian takeaway.

About three years ago, when my son was in to kart racing, I had to buy a kart engine from a Swedish website (really!) and before I had time to log off Sainsbury Visa called to ask about the transaction. Very impressed.

My bank stopped mine when I was trying to use it in South America. Three weeks unable to use my card when I needed it most. Got home to messages on my answer phone saying suspicious attempted transactions had been picked up by the fraud section. I always call them now if I am going overseas so it doesn't happen again.
