Half empty/Half full

Here's something I was contemplating whilst fighting the wind on the guided bus way. An alternative personality test to "glass half empty/half full":

When you turn a corner and the wind drops, is it an opportunity to have a rest, or go faster for the same effort?

I'm a faster for the same effort type of guy, and it applies to other things too e.g. pay increase = pay more off mortgage. Disposable income remains the same as I can live to that fixed amount.

You don't get this level of philosophical insight when driving!

These days, I'd have to go for the rest but in my fitter, pre-CycleChat days I always rode at the hardest level that I could sustain so I'd have gone faster ...

Mind you, I have done the local 20 mile loop several times and had a nasty headwind the whole way, so knowing my luck the wind wouldn't drop anyway!
