I was looking for long lycra trousers and saw a pair in my local lbs reduced by 10 pounds to 29.99. Trouble is they were too small. I was driving past affords this morning and decided just to have a look. They only had one pair left but they were three quarter length but my size . So I bought them for
18.50, saving myself 10 pounds. Happy man!!

They sent me a demand for £60 cause I was in their car park for over a hour, I was sorting out my C2W collection....

....but to be fair to them they wrote off the demand once they knew the circumstances

You wanted full length but came out of Halfords with 3/4's?
And for this it cost you £18.50?

:giggle:
Were they marked 25% off by any chance

I think the quality of service you get from Halfords varies store by store. The one near me always seems to be staffed by a bunch of kids that either don't know the first thing about bikes or just don't want to help.

There have been several posts on here praising other stores though.

So luck of the draw I suppose.

Were you thinking budget at this point in your post or did you miss the l out from your French accent - Alffords?

I prefer the 2nd option.

At least it will give my wife s good laugh in the morning when I put them on before I go for a 40 miles ride with friends. She still frowns when she sees me in lycra shorts.

I visited my LBS today to make my first bike-related purchase. Walked out with a Kryptonite lock for a quid shy of £40. Wasn't too fussed at the price, as that's what I had budgeted to pay for a decent-ish lock, and I wanted to get some advice on local rides. Was quite disappointed to find the same lock on several websites for less than £20.
Clothing in there was horrendously over-priced. A hi-viz gilet was £40, and wasn't much better than the one I eventually got from Sportsdirect for less than a tenner.

Certainly makes it hard to support local business.
