Good evening.Have had one for ages but it will get used this weekend for the first time.What is your opinion of using it? I'd also like to know how you can tell if your bikes exceed the maximum carrying weight as that is at the back of my mind as well.

Which one is it? If the bikes cover the main brake lights or the number plate, you need a lighting board on the back to be legal, which may be an expensive faff, depending on your car. I also avoid carriers which push on the rear window, for fear they'll put the glass in under heavy braking or a crash.

I weigh bikes with a luggage scale, hanging them off a strap between (I think) the stem and seatpost.

It's in the title.Yes it has a tailboard and I need a number plate but have decided to tae two cars and only put two bikes on carrier and two inside car
so won't be as nerve wracking.
